FAQ

常见问题

How do I calculate the liquidation price?

Enter the entry, size, leverage and maintenance margin rate into the calculator — it applies the selected exchange's isolated margin formula. The formulas and where each term comes from are in «Bybit and Binance liquidation price».

How does extra margin change the liquidation price on Bybit?

It pushes it away from entry: lower for a long, higher for a short. Enter the amount in the «Extra margin» field and the calculator recalculates the price; the formula is in «Bybit and Binance liquidation price».

How is the liquidation price calculated on Binance?

In isolated mode it depends on the position margin, the maintenance margin rate and the maintenance amount cum from the «Leverage & Margin» table. The calculator uses the general formula from Binance's help center; the formula and an example are in «Bybit and Binance liquidation price».

How far is liquidation at 10x leverage?

A little under 10%: at 10x the initial margin is 10% of the position value, and liquidation comes when only the maintenance margin is left of it. The table below the calculator shows the distance for your rate at 2x to 100x leverage.

Why does the exchange show a different liquidation price?

Liquidation is calculated by the mark price, Bybit adds an estimated closing fee to the maintenance margin, and the rate depends on the position's risk tier. Funding, if you are the one paying, reduces the distance over a long hold. In cross margin the liquidation price depends on the balance and the other positions of the account.

Where do I find the maintenance margin rate?

In the exchange's risk tier table for your contract: on Bybit — the rate and the deduction, on Binance — the rate and the maintenance amount cum in the «Leverage & Margin» table. The larger the position, the higher the rate.
