How to fill in the form
- Exchange. Bybit — isolated margin on the Unified Trading Account, Binance — isolated margin on USDⓈ-M futures. Both formulas cover linear perpetual contracts settled in USDT.
- Size is in coins, not dollars: a 4,000 USDT position with BTC at 40,000 is 0.1 BTC.
- The maintenance margin rate (MMR) and its deduction (on Binance — the maintenance amount cum) come from the exchange's risk tier table for your contract and size. The larger the position, the higher the rate and the closer liquidation gets at the same leverage.
- Extra margin (Bybit) and position margin (Binance) — if you added margin by hand. Otherwise the calculator uses the initial margin: entry × size / leverage.
Check it against the examples
The calculator reproduces Bybit's help center example as of 12 October 2026 and the examples from «Bybit and Binance liquidation price»:
- Bybit, a long of 1 BTC at 40,000, 50x leverage, 3,000 extra margin, MMR 0.5%, taker fee 0.055% — 36,380.25, as in Bybit's help center example. Without the extra margin the long is at 39,396.98 and the short at 40,597.01.
- Binance, 0.1 BTC at 60,000, 10x leverage, 600 margin — the article's example with an assumed MMR of 0.4% and cum 0: long 54,216.87, short 65,737.05.
Why the exchange may show a different number
Liquidation is triggered by the mark price. Bybit adds an estimated closing fee to the maintenance margin, the rate changes when a position moves to another risk tier, and funding, if you are the one paying, eats into the distance to liquidation over a long hold — more in «Funding rate: what it is and what it costs you». In cross margin the liquidation price depends on the balance and the other positions of the account; how it is calculated there and where each term comes from is in «Bybit and Binance liquidation price: formulas and examples».
What Davinchu does
Bybit futures accounts (linear USDT and USDC contracts on the Unified Trading Account) and HTX futures connect with a read-only key: Davinchu does not trade and does not accept a key with withdrawal rights. The calculator above handles an isolated position, and in Bybit cross margin and Portfolio Margin Davinchu watches the margin of the whole account: when the account maintenance margin rate reaches 80%, a critical «Margin call approaching» alert arrives in Telegram, email or Discord — during quiet hours too.
If a Bybit position closes, the close message names the reason: Stop Loss, Take Profit, trailing stop, liquidation or ADL. Binance spot balances are collected in «Investments». What arrives from each exchange is on the «Davinchu for crypto traders» page; the Free plan connects two accounts at no cost.
