In short. MetaTrader 5 itself does not post to Telegram: it can send push notifications to the MetaTrader mobile app and emails. To get trades, drawdown and margin in Telegram you need an Expert Advisor that sends messages — your own via the Bot API or a service's monitor. Davinchu Trade Monitor passes account events to the dashboard, and the dashboard sends them to Telegram — together with something no EA can tell you: that the terminal has stopped checking in. The Free plan includes two accounts.
What MetaTrader 5 can do on its own
«Tools» → «Options» → «Notifications» tab. Enable push notifications and enter the MetaQuotes ID from the MetaTrader mobile app (up to four IDs separated by commas). Then there are two sources:
- notifications from the local terminal — successful trade operations, balance operations and Margin Call; failed operations are not reported, and it works only while the terminal is open;
- notifications from the trade server — orders, deals and balance operations from the broker, even with the terminal closed. Not every broker offers them.
The limits: everything goes only to the MetaTrader app, there are no drawdown thresholds, and nobody notices that the EA or the terminal has stopped — the terminal's notifications simply stop coming.
Three ways to get trades in Telegram
| Way | How it works | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Your own EA with the Telegram Bot API | the EA posts to a bot via WebRequest to api.telegram.org | the bot token lives in the terminal; texts, thresholds and retries are on you |
| A ready-made notifier EA | the same, written for you | reports only while the terminal runs; it cannot tell you it has stopped |
| A monitoring service (Davinchu) | the EA sends events to a server, the server writes to Telegram | the server notices that the terminal went quiet and raises the alarm itself |
In all three cases the terminal with the EA has to run — on a computer or on a VPS. The difference is who notices when it stops.
How to set it up in Davinchu
- In the dashboard: «Accounts» → «+ Connect account» → «MT4/MT5» → «Get key», and download Davinchu Trade Monitor there.
- Put it on any chart of the terminal, paste the key into the inputs and add
https://app.davinchu.comto «Allow WebRequest for listed URL». Step by step — in «How to install an EA in MT5». The monitor does not need Algo Trading: it does not trade. - «Settings» → «Notifications» → «Connect Telegram»: the bot opens with a link code, confirm in Telegram and click «I've connected». Email and Discord are connected there too.
- In the account settings, «Notifications» tab, the «Advisor messages» block sets what to send for this account. A connected EA applies changes at once, without a restart.
Which messages arrive
| Group | Messages |
|---|---|
| Trades | position opened and closed, partial close, scale-in («Averaging #N»), reversal, close by SL/TP, SL/TP changes, pending orders; closes can be grouped by symbol |
| Money | deposits and withdrawals |
| Risk | drawdown (threshold and step in percent), margin level, stop-out, daily and weekly drawdown — critical: they arrive during quiet hours too |
| Grids | number of orders in a grid, its volume in lots and its age in hours — at your thresholds |
| Reports | daily summary, weekly summary on Friday, a periodic «EA is alive» heartbeat |
| EA state | «Monitor deactivated» with the reason (removed from the chart, terminal closed); «Account connection lost» after 10 minutes and «Account connection restored» with the outage length; «The EA is silent» — connected, but no new trades for longer than the hours you set |
Messages about openings, closes, stop changes and drawdown and margin alerts can carry a chart screenshot. Filters: only the symbols you list (comma-separated), one magic number, manual and EA trades separately, the position comment in the text — handy when several robots share an account.
Quiet hours, pause and bot commands
Quiet hours are set in «Settings» → «Notifications»: regular messages are held and arrive as one summary when they end, critical ones arrive at once. «Account connection lost» also ignores quiet hours and pause; it can be turned off only with that account's switch.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/status, /balance, /positions | account status, balance and equity, open positions |
/today, /week, /stats | today's summary, this week's summary, trading statistics |
/pause 60, /resume | pause trade notifications for N minutes (up to 1440) and lift the pause |
/accounts, /balance 2 | list of accounts and a report for one of them |
/unlink | unlink this chat |
MetaTrader 4 and exchanges
A MetaTrader 4 account connects with its own EA: the dashboard reports trade openings and closes, and «Account connection lost» and «The EA is silent» work the same way. Exchanges connect with a read-only key: the dashboard reports closed trades on Bybit and HTX futures and Bybit spot, while Binance, OKX and BingX spot balances go into the investment portfolio. For Bybit futures the close message names the reason — Stop Loss, Take Profit, trailing stop or liquidation — and on a unified account with cross or portfolio margin a «Margin call approaching» alert arrives at 80% maintenance margin: it is critical and arrives even during quiet hours.
Notifications are available on every plan, including Free. What else Davinchu does for robots is on «Davinchu for algo traders», and if an EA has stopped opening trades, see «Why an EA is not trading in MT5».
