How to connect Interactive Brokers

1. Create the report in IBKR

Interactive Brokers shares data through Flex Web Service: these are reports, and nobody can trade through them. You need two values — the query number (Query ID) and a token.

1. Log in to IBKR Portal → Performance & Reports → Flex Queries.
2. In the Activity Flex Query block click «+», name the query and under Sections tick Account Information, Net Asset Value (NAV) in Base, Cash Report, Open Positions, Cash Transactions and Conversion Rates. Level of detail: Summary for Open Positions, Detail for Cash Transactions.
3. In Delivery Configuration choose the XML format and the Last 365 Calendar Days period, leave the date format at the default → Continue → Create. Copy the query number — the Query ID.
4. In Flex Web Service Configuration enable the service and click Generate A New Token. Pick the longest validity — up to a year — and leave the IP address empty. A new token cancels the previous one.

One query covers one IBKR account. For a second account create a separate Flex Query and connect it separately.

2. Connect the account in Davinchu

1. In the dashboard open «Accounts» → the «Brokers» tab → «+ Connect account». Interactive Brokers is selected in the «Connect a broker» window.
2. Paste the token into «Flex Web Service token» and the query number into «Query number (Query ID)».
3. Click «Connect». The dashboard requests a fresh report from IBKR and checks its sections, and takes the account number (U…) from the report — it shows in the «Account No.» column of the «Brokerage accounts» table.

3. What arrives in Davinchu

• Positions — shares, funds and bonds with the broker's average price.
• Cash and account value — the balance from the Cash Report and the value from Net Asset Value. Amounts are converted to dollars at the rates from the Conversion Rates section of the same report.
• Deposits and withdrawals — from Cash Transactions over the report period: with Last 365 Calendar Days that is one year back. They go into the account's cash flow records, and growth on the «Accounts» page is calculated without them.
• The «Investments» portfolio — IBKR securities next to T-Bank, crypto and manual assets: value, TWR and XIRR return, drawdown, allocation, rebalancing and the «Investor report» PDF.

IBKR refreshes the Flex report once a day after market close. Davinchu re-reads the report at most every 4 hours, and the «Sync» button in the portfolio's «Data sources» requests a new report right away. To load the securities into a portfolio for the first time, click it next to the IBKR account — after that the portfolio updates on its own.

A one-year token

A Flex Web Service token is valid for up to a year. When it expires, the account shows «The token has expired». Issue a new token in IBKR, delete the account on «Accounts» («More actions» → «Delete») and connect it again with the same Query ID. The positions in the «Investments» portfolio stay, and deposits and withdrawals arrive again for the report period.
