In short. The EA file (.ex5) goes into the MQL5\Experts folder of the terminal's data folder, the EA is dragged onto a chart, and its inputs are set in the properties window. If the EA talks to the internet, its address must be added to «Allow WebRequest for listed URL»; if it trades, automated trading must be on. The EA works only while the terminal is open. Steps follow the MetaTrader 5 help as of October 11, 2026.

Step 1. Put the file into the Experts folder

  1. In the terminal: «File» → «Open Data Folder».
  2. Open MQL5 → Experts and copy the .ex5 file there.
  3. The EA appears in the «Navigator» window under «Expert Advisors». If it is not there, restart the terminal.

A .mq5 file is source code: it will not show up in the Navigator until it is compiled in MetaEditor. For MetaTrader 4 the steps are the same, but the folder is MQL4\Experts.

Step 2. Run the EA on a chart

  1. Drag the EA from the Navigator onto any chart or double-click it.
  2. In the properties window, on the «Inputs» tab, set its parameters — a key, for example.
  3. If the EA trades, tick «Allow Auto Trading» on the «Common» tab and turn on the «AutoTrading» button on the toolbar (newer builds label it «Algo Trading»). With the button off only trading operations are blocked — an EA that only reads data keeps working.
  4. Click «OK». The sign of a running EA is its name and icon in the top right corner of the chart. One chart runs one EA.

Step 3. Allow WebRequest

An EA that sends data to a server can only reach addresses on the terminal's allow list. «Tools» → «Options» → «Expert Advisors» tab → tick «Allow WebRequest for listed URL» and add the address, for example https://app.davinchu.com. The list is empty by default. The same list applies to network sockets: without the address the EA will not connect, and an error appears in the log.

Step 4. Check that it works

  • «Toolbox» → «Experts» tab — EA messages: connection, errors, warnings. The «Journal» tab shows the terminal's own events.
  • The EA runs only while the terminal is open: close the terminal or let the computer sleep, and it stops. For round-the-clock operation the terminal runs on a VPS, including MetaQuotes virtual hosting: it is rented right from the terminal, and the WebRequest list must be set up before migration.

Connecting Davinchu Trade Monitor

  1. In the dashboard: «Accounts» → «+ Connect account» → «MT4/MT5» tab → «Get key». The key is shown once — copy it right away.
  2. Click «↓ Download advisor» there and put the file into MQL5\Experts (step 1).
  3. Drag the EA onto any chart and paste the key into the «Ключ из кабинета Davinchu» (InpDvKey) input on the «Inputs» tab.
  4. Add the address from the connect window — https://app.davinchu.com — to «Allow WebRequest for listed URL».
  5. The account appears in the dashboard after the first sync: the connect window waits up to a minute and a half and, if no data arrives, shows what to check.

The monitor opens no trades, so it does not need automated trading: it sends trades, balance, equity and the account history. The server sends it no trading commands. The T-Manager risk manager is a separate EA with its own key, and it works only with automated trading on.

A MetaTrader 4 account connects the same way: choose «MetaTrader 4» in the connect window and put the Davinchu Trade Monitor EA for MT4 into MQL4\Experts. The monitor works with any forex and CFD broker on MetaTrader 4 and 5, prop firms included. The MT4 version of the T-Manager risk manager is in development.

On the MT5 EA panelMeaning and what to do
● КАБИНЕТ (connected)connected, data is flowing
● НЕТ СВЯЗИ (no connection)no connection: check the address in the WebRequest list and the internet
● КЛЮЧ? (key?)the dashboard rejected the key: paste it in full, without spaces, or issue a new one
● НЕТ КЛЮЧА (no key)the key is not set in the inputs

In the dashboard the account shows «Online». Close the terminal or remove the EA from the chart and the status changes to «EA not connected», while the EA itself sends «Monitor deactivated» with the reason. If the terminal freezes or the internet drops, «Account connection lost» arrives after 10 minutes — in Telegram, by email or in Discord. The Free plan connects two accounts at no cost.

More on the «Account monitoring» page and in «MT5 investor password». If robots trade on the account, what Davinchu does for them is on the «Davinchu for algo traders» page.
